About Jenny Short
Inspir.ed is run by Jenny Short. Jenny understands quality teaching and learning having been a Primary School teacher, head teacher, adviser, inspector and School Improvement Partner. Inspir.ed was created to offer schools something extra. Tailored support with practical, no nonsense action steps to pull it all together.
Originally trained as a PE specialist, Jenny worked initially in Secondary Schools also teaching Science, before moving to a career as a teacher in Middle and then Primary Schools. As a successful head teacher of a large Junior School Jenny's leadership was always focused upon learning, and a desire to develop more effective teaching in the classroom. A keen interest in Assessment for Learning (AFL) developed over time from the research of Paul Black and Dylan Wiliam and the practical applications advocated by Ruth Sutton and Shirley Clarke. This led to a career as a Local Authority Adviser for Assessment and closer association with experts in the field through AAIA (The Association for Achievement and Improvement through Assessment) and ARG (The Assessment Reform Group).
Jenny's standing as an education professional is combined with a reputation for straight talking, focussed action and a sympathy for, and understanding of, the challenges faced in modern schools.
